It's hard to pick just one thing that inspires me...my family, friends, nature and life continuously throw new ideas at me. For years, I tried to create through several mediums before I stumbled into clay.
I do know that when my muse died a few years ago (a 21yr old cat, Jake, that I had inherited and was a constant companion during my clay time), I had to step away from my craft table. It took several years before I could return, and since I have two new cats in my life, along with the constant support of family and friends, I have started working again this past year and am loving it more than ever.
I get lots of input from family and friends, which I rely on, though find overwhelming too at times when their ideas conflict with my new muse's ideas! But, I rather have too many ideas than none at all!

3 Smooshing Thoughts:
I love reading all these inspiration stories!
I loved reading this. I am so sorry about the loss of Jake - but I know he's glad you're back at the table, and he's watching you create again. ;-)
I second what Teresa said. They never really go away.
Can't you see him in the lion on that urn?
