Introducing AmazingDesigns

AmazingDesigns

What got you interested in polymer clay as a medium?
Not what, but who. My son started making flexible hair accessories out of PC to sell at fairs and events. I suggested he make jewelry to add to his display. His reply was "You are more creative, why don't you do it." So I bought some clay, started to "play" and immediately got hooked.

What inspires you to create?
Sounds silly but it is sitting at my claying table. I will pick up some clay, start to soften it, and idea for a design just starts to develop.

Do you have a favorite technique?
Have not learned all there is to learn, At this point I would have to say Art Sheet.

Of everything you have created which is your favorite?
I have so many favorites, especially my orchid recreations, but in jewelry it would have to be this one.

What do you prefer to make out of polymer clay and why?
Again I would say although jewelry has been my main focus, and I am inspired to create it more often, my preference is floral pieces, especially my recreation of the orchids I grow in my back yard, since I am a member of the Central Florida Orchid Society, and avid about them. Unfortunately, I am not as successful at growing and blooming, as I have become at making them, i.e.

How do you decide what to make?
Friends and family members suggest types of items, and many times I have received requests for specific creations, but I would have to say the seasons, or time of the year are what inspire me to come up with new items.

Is there something you wish you could make in clay that you have not yet?
Have been toying with the idea to delve into sculptured creations, such as figures, or life like animals.

What makes polymer clay a better fit for your products than other mediums?
This is an easy one to answer. Because it is polymer clay! Easily moldable, color combinations are endless, techniques are realy FUN to do and adapt, changes can be made without much effort, if things are not quite right, and it is the most fantastic medium I have ever come across.

What is your best advice for someone starting out in polymer clay?

What a neat way to start working with polymer clay! And, your orchid is gorgeous! I prefer polymer clay plants...you don't have to water them ;)
